Manly are scoring 'Tries 4 Trees'

16 Mar, 2023

4 Pines Brewing Co. announces ‘Tries 4 Trees’ Initiative with Manly this NRL season.

4 Pines Brewing Co. has given the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles some extra motivation this NRL season, committing to plant 100 native trees, shrubs and grasses for every try scored up to 44,444.

In conjunction with Landcare Australia, this exciting initiative was born through conversations with 4 Pines Brewing Co as the official beer of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, and naming rights partners of the Sea Eagles’ iconic home ground, 4 Pines Park. The partnership’s intent has always been about bringing people together through mateship, fresh beer and good times at the footy and will now evolve to make a positive sustainability impact.

Sea Eagles Captain & Half-Back, Daly Cherry Evans, fresh from scoring three tries in the opening round win over the Bulldogs at 4 Pines Park, said “This is a great initiative from 4 Pines and Landcare Australia and one we are very proud to back.”

“We all love scoring tries for Manly. To now know that we are also helping create a better environment for us all, it certainly makes you happy to be part of the Tries for Trees program.”

Todd Atkinson, 4 Pines Brewing Co Chief Executive Officer, said “The partnership gives fans more to cheer about this year, connecting the progress of the team on the field to progress for the environment.”

“Watching Manly score tries will never feel this good – 100 trees for every try scored (up to 44,444)! It’s great to have Manly on board with our Brew Better agenda in association with the team at Landcare Australia. We are looking forward to doing lots more in this space together.

This new project alongside our existing project with the Australian Men’s Cricket Team, will contribute to 4 Pines overall commitment to plant up to 44,444 trees every year over 3 years from 2021. We’ve already seen the powerful outcome of the planting commitment at Cape Jervis, South Australia. Close to 100 acres were seeded in July 2022 with carefully selected species native to the Cape area enhancing landscape connectivity, improving biodiversity and providing long-term habitat for threatened species including the Glossy Black Cockatoo.

Tony Mestrov, Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, Chief Executive Officer said: “We are very proud of our partnership with 4 Pines and their dedication to making a real difference in the community and for the environment.’’

“4 Pines are always thinking outside the square when it comes to new ideas, and we think this is a great one. The more tries we score, the more trees are planted. Everyone wins.”

Dr. Shane Norrish, Landcare Australia, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Following the success of the ‘4 Pines 4’ initiative during the summer with Cricket Australia, we welcome the opportunity to work with the team at 4 Pines to continue to deliver the commitment to plant up to 44,444 native trees, shrubs and grasses every year with landcare. Our partnership with 4 Pines is an ongoing example of how corporate Australia can make a meaningful difference with landcare in protecting our natural assets in conjunction with local communities.”
